FAW Group -- the Chinese carmaker based in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province -- has made great strides in supporting the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic in the province, according to local reports.

Local officials said that in May, Jilin city saw increased new confirmed COVID-19 cases, which made epidemic prevention and control more difficult there. FAW Group immediately stepped in, offering emergency funding of 2.8 million yuan ($392,877) to help fight the virus.

The money was mainly used to offer support for hospitals in Jilin city and the first batch of 1.95 million yuan was used to buy three ambulances, 10 police vehicles for epidemic prevention and control and 60 patient monitors.

FAW Hongqi also organized a motorcade to offer transportation support for Jilin city's fight against the epidemic.

Company officials said that since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in the country, FAW Hongqi has offered a lot of support for the battle against the virus, including offering travel services for medical workers in Central China's Hubei province -- which at one time was heavily hit by the outbreak -- and supporting poverty alleviation in the province.
