Qi Songyu, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) from Northeast China's Jilin province - and a worker at Changchun-based carmaker FAW Group - said he had paid long-term attention to the development of intelligent vehicles, as well as the construction and promotion of intelligent road systems.

As a deputy of the Jilin delegation, Qi is attending the third session of the 13th NPC, which opened on the morning of May 22 in Beijing and he said he will make suggestions about accelerating construction of an intelligent highway network in the country.

Qi told a previous telephone interview that highway transportation is convenient and efficient - and it has the largest number of users than any other means of transportation.

He said the road system supports the development of intelligent vehicles and can also serve as a service platform, so that promoting the development of an intelligent road system is accelerating the development of intelligent vehicles.

With development of intelligent technology, vehicles, roads and people will finally work together in driving, he added.
