Northeast China's Jilin province reported four new confirmed COVID-19 cases on May 14, according to officials from the local health authority.

The Health Commission of Jilin Province said that the four domestically transmitted cases were discovered in Jilin city and one of the cases was previously a suspected case.

By the end of May 14, the province had reported a total of 119 confirmed locally transmitted cases, of whom 92 were cured and discharged from hospital, 26 were receiving treatment at hospital, with one fatality recorded.

Three of the patients receiving treatment at hospitals are in a severe condition and were all from the city of Jilin. Officials said a total of 686 close contacts of the confirmed locally transmitted cases in the province are now in quarantine and under medical observation.

The city of Jilin has expanded its lockdown measures in response to the new confirmed cases.

The decisive measures include implementing close-off management of residents, halting most transportation and prohibiting public gathering activities, while trying to ensure food and daily supplies for the residents.
