A mass power walk was held in Gongzhuling city, in Northeast China’s Jilin province, on May 29, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the New China.

The event, which was organized by Gongzhuling’s committee for construction of spiritual civilization, had the theme of helping with poverty alleviation and spreading civilization.

A total of 6,347 people from 116 groups took part in the activity. They raised 187,932 yuan ($27,200), to help subsidize the poor of Gongzhuling.

Participants learned about the city construction of Gongzhuling during the 10-kilometer event, which celebrated a green and healthy lifestyle and helped make inroads into tackling poverty in the region.
