Gianpaolo Tarabini, husband of Italian fashion designer Anna Molinari, died after being mauled by an elephant during a safari in Zimbabwe on Friday.

His death was reported in Milan's daily Corriere della Sera and Rome's Il Messagero newspapers on Sunday.

Tarabini, 67, was chief executive of the couple's fashion house and Blumarine label.

Tarabini co-founded Blumarine with Molinari in 1977.

Molinari and her designer daughter, Rossella, developed a feminine romantic style found in the house's three main labels - Blumarine, Anna Molinari and Blugirl.

He is survived by his wife and daughter, a son and two grandchildren.
