Director Zhang Jizhong will present a brand new version of Journey to the West, a TV series adapted from the classic novel.

To be broadcast online and on TV in April 2011, the show costs 3 million yuan ($450,000) per episode, a record price for a TV series in China, Zhang says.

The show features dazzling computer generated visual effects reminiscent of Hollywood fantasy films such as Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings.

With more than 20 years in the TV industry, Zhang has built a name for his TV adaptations of martial arts novels by Louis Cha.

The second installment of Hong Kong director Pang Ho-cheung's "4 plus 1" plan has been released online.

"4 plus 1" refers to the four short films and one feature film, all directed by young Beijing directors that Pang, known for his witty films on young urban life, produces solely for online release.

The first one is called Nail-clippers Devil starring A-lister Zhou Xun and tells the uncanny love tale between an IT engineer and a girl who claims to eat nail-clippers as her daily diet.

In the second one, titled Truth or Not, a props man falls in love with the lead actress after he accidentally takes the place of the lead actor, whom he resembles.

The other two short films, starring Zhang Jingchu and Shawn Yue, will be released soon.
