Established in 1949, bulthaup from Germany has always been the leader and innovator of luxury kitchen architecture and manufacture. Following the launching of bulthaup Shanghai showroom in 2008, the brand’s biggest showroom in the world, bulthaup is proud to present its second showroom in China, Beijing on 9th September 2010.

Strategically located in the capital city of China, the hub of capital, culture and talents, the new bulthaup showroom represents the brand’s further presence in the market, especially the Northern part of China, and translating luxury living in a new perspective. The legendary story of bulthaup began in 1949 in Aich, Germany, where Martin Bulthaup founded the company that was to bear his name.

The company specialized in kitchen furniture and fitted kitchen system. The company’s turning point came when Mr. Gerd Bulthaup, son of the founder, brought to the company his love of architect, Bauhaus philosophy and aesthetics and began to expand the company to become the market leader in architecturally oriented kitchens. He convinced Otl Aicher, recognized as one of the most outstanding German designer in the 20th century and famous for designing pictograms for 1972 Munich Olympics, to help him realize the idea.

The book “The Kitchen is for Cooking”, written by Otl Aicher in 1982, laid down a whole new kitchen philosophy that has become bulthaup’s guiding priniciples ever since – ergonomic design, flawless functionality, material authenticity, and a reduction to the essentials. Throughout all these years, bulthaup has become synonymous with prestigious and luxury kitchen living spaces and continually sets design milestones within the industry. The new bulthaup Beijing showroom is located at the ground level of World Financial Center (WFC), the core of CBD in Beijing. The site is specially selected for its highly world-class architectural ambience.

Completed in 2009, WFC is one of the most premium Grade A office complex in town, designed by world-renowned architect Cesar Pelli of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects as “twin crystal jewel boxes”. Furthermore, WFC is just opposite to the iconic CCTV Tower designed by Rem Koolhas. The new showroom design layout demonstrates the bulthaup brand values – architecture for living space - where the eye, the mind, and the body feel good within the space, instead of merely filling the showroom with products. Once entering the showroom, the two monoblock islands in seamless white laminate set a very strong sculptural tone.

The superior quality and craftsmanship has already become clear. bulthaup b3, showcased in the showroom, features light character and innovative “floating” design. With the versatile “function wall”, which is capable of supporting weight of 1 tonne per square meter, the whole kitchen cabinet can be hung onto the wall without reaching the ground for support. The visually interesting “floating” structure explains why bulthaup b3 is one of the most luxurious kitchen systems in the market, and a true manifestation of the most precise engineering, superior craftsmanship and manufacture that one can afford.

Several bulthaup’s top line front materials, including gray aluminum, horizontal walnut veneer, bronze aluminum are used in the showroom, displaying vast variety of quality materials that the brand can offer. At the back of the showroom stands a set of bulthaup b2 kitchen, realizing the idea of a mobile and “drawerless” kitchen, inspired by the Pope’s kitchen in the 17th century.

The new showroom offers a perfect hub of communication among consumers, architects, developers and designers. Presented now in over 50 countries worldwide, bulthaup has continuously astound the kitchen and design industry with minimalist yet ideal solutions for kitchens and adjoining spaces.

The company is awarded European Design Prize and Lifetime Achievement Award by European Commission in 1997 for its constant contribution to the industry. And in 2010, bulthaup is awarded Gold winner of Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany, one of the most reputable design awards in the world. With the second showroom opened in mainland China, bulthaup continues to translate the meaning of luxury and “the state of art” in its very own sophisticated way, like no other.
