On a tight leash

There is a 10-acre lawn in the school's backyard, a facility hard to find elsewhere in Shanghai, where the canines are trained to run. There's also a dog swimming pool. The in-kennel training is good for those who can't leash train their dogs at home for lack of time. The lessons include basic obedience on leash, home manners, advanced off leash training, agility and behavioral courses.

Fee: Boarding and training in Paradise Kennel costs 100 yuan per dog per day; it's 120 yuan during summer and winter including the cost of air conditioning.

G3 Dogs

G3 Dogs' instructors offer personalized one-on-one training at the dog owner's home. These include puppy classes, obedience training and in-home training. The G3 Dog Hotels are equipped with standard G3 rooms, Deluxe G3 suites and Presidential G3 Suites.

Fee: Fees vary in keeping with the level of training offered. A night's stay at the hotel costs 150 yuan and upwards.

Beijing

Jinjiajun Kennel

A veteran of more than 12 years in dog training industry, Jinjiajun Kennel offers services such as dog breeding, boarding and training. One could even rent a model dog for film shoots. Specialized training courses are designed in keeping with the breed of the dog, including those meant as show dogs and dogs meant to perform specific tasks.

Fee: 5,000 yuan per month for the obedience training course, with the course lasting a minimum of three months (extra charge for training Tibetan mastiff). Boarding charges range from 60 yuan to 100 yuan per dog per day.

Xiaoyu Pet

Apart from regular training courses, this privately-owned dog school offers services such as training and dog nanny at the owner's place.

Fee: 2,400 yuan for two months' basic training. Boarding charges are 40 yuan per day and 800 yuan per month.
