The 3rd Smile Angel Foundation charity party, which kicked off in Beijing on Dec 18, collected 29 million yuan ($4.3 million) in cash and medicines valued at 50 million yuan, all of which will go to Smile Angel hospitals.

Initiated by diva Faye Wong and her husband actor Li Yapeng (pictured) in 2006, the foundation helps children with the expenses involved in cleft lip surgery.

Celebrities such as actress Carina Lau, singer Na Ying, Eason Chan and TV hostess Little S attended the party.

At the charity auction, Wong's agent Katie Chan bought a vase featuring drawings by Wong's two daughters, for 3 million yuan ($439,270).

The foundation is named after Wong and Li's little daughter Li Yan, who was born with a cleft lip.

To date the foundation, affiliated with the Red Cross Society of China, has raised more than 40 million yuan and aided 5,019 children.
