Couple lose 'noisy sex' appeal

A British woman has lost her appeal against a ban on noisy sex sessions with her partner.

Earlier this year, the court was played a recording of one of Caroline and Steve Cartwright's three-hour lovemaking sessions at their home in Washington, Tyne and Wear.

The couple were banned from "shouting, screaming or vocalisation at such a level as to be a statutory nuisance", but Caroline appealed under human rights legislation, AFP reports.

Caroline said: "I tried to control it. I even tried to use a pillow [over my face] to try and lessen the noise."

However, Recorder Jeremy Freedman upheld the banning order, saying: "It was clearly of a very disturbing nature and it was also compounded by the duration - this was not a one-off, it went on for hours at a time.

"It is further compounded by the frequency of the episode - virtually every night... we do not find there is any infringement of her human rights in any shape or form."

Council environmental health official Pamela Spark said of the sounds: "I found it very disturbing and I noted that it sounded like she was being murdered."
