Couple gets hands really dirty to find diamond ring

A woman in Dalian, Liaoning province, had to rummage through more than 1,000 bags full of rubbish to look for her diamond ring her husband accidentally chucked in the bin with some other waste last Tuesday.

The woman had kept the ring on the bedside table right over a piece of paper, which the husband threw in the bin without realizing it contained the expensive ring.

The couple went to the district's rubbish house and went through more garbage than they would have liked before they found the ring three hours later.

Drunk falls off cycle, forgets where home is

A heavily intoxicated man who fell down from his bicycle on a street in Tianjin municipality was so high that he could not remember where he lived.

The man was taken to the police station where he regained composure some 10 hours later, after which police officials phoned his family and asked them to take away the drunk.

Double-eyelid man refused permission to exit country

A 24-year-old man who underwent the knife to get double eyelids was refused permission to exit the country for studies abroad last week, as his face looked quite different from the photograph in his passport.

Officials at the airport in Fushun, Liaoning province, were not sure if the man was traveling on his own passport.

Ill woman, 31, signs up to donate organs using toes

A 31-year-old woman born with serious cerebral palsy signed a notarization with the Red Cross Society in Fushun, Liaoning province, to have her organs donated for medical research after her death.

Wang Lingheng signed the document with her toes. Both her hands have become dysfunctional due to the disease.

"I am unable to do anything useful for people in my lifetime because of my illness. But I want to help mankind after my death," she said.

Man with half a tongue on trial for attempt to rape

A Beijing court prosecuted a man on charges of attempting to rape a woman who bit off part of his tongue in June.

The accused had dragged the woman to court demanding compensation for his permanently injured tongue.

Two cab drivers chase robber and corner him

Two cab drivers joined hands to nab a man who had robbed a woman in Tianjin municipality in the early hours of last Saturday.

Once the robber fled, the woman got into a taxi and asked the driver to go after him. Meanwhile, another taxi driver passing by joined in the chase and cornered the robber on a street and handed him over to the police.

Woman held for using fake notes to buy clothes

A woman from Anhui province was detained for using counterfeit money at a shop in Hohhot, the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, to buy clothes last Sunday.

The woman handed the store cashier two 100-yuan banknotes for a pair of trousers. When he was ready to hand her back the spare change, she asked him to return the notes and replaced them with two other counterfeit notes.

The cashier noticed the notes were fake and called police. Spotting officers walking into the store, the woman tried swallowing the fake notes but was subdued.

Police recovered more counterfeit notes from her purse and have taken her into custody for further investigation.

Siberian tigress delivers cubs in front of visitors

A dozen tourists visiting a zoo in Shenyang, Liaoning province, saw a little more than they had expected to when a 5-year-old Siberian tigress gave birth to two cubs right in front of them last Thursday.

"The tigress has grown up in the zoo, which is why she gave birth unhurriedly in front of the tourists," zookeepers said.
