Brazilians urged to wee in the shower

A new TV advertisement from a Brazilian environmental group has urged people to urinate in the shower to save water and protect the rainforests.

The animated clip features a number of characters relieving themselves while having a wash, including men, women, children, sports stars, aliens, King Kong and Norman Bates from Psycho.

SOS Mata Atlantica spokeswoman Adriana Kfouri said that the commercial was "a way to be playful about a serious subject".

The advert notes that each toilet flush uses 12 litres of water, which means that reducing the number of flushes by one a day saves 4,380 litres every year.
