Date with a dream

Forget mundane affairs. Have a brief getaway from everyday concerns and worries. All you need at the moment is just to breathe the fresh air, let the wind waft through your hair and enjoy the untouched nature in front of your face.

Some people were cleaning the beach when I was savouring the picturesque beach scene. Maybe it’s the artists and organizers who did it under this year’s theme ‘Green Jazz’—which I knew later from the organiser.

Enjoying the fame of ‘Jazz town’, Hua Hin staged this year’s festival with a combination of modernity and its original ‘royal’ special character.

Along with the beach stage, the so-called ‘Royal stage’ two blocks away was the other location holding the performances. It really surprised me when I learned from the posters on the square that Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej was an avid music lover and a saxophone player when he was young.

The festival, featured more than 10 well-known bands from local and foreign countries including the Philippines, Denmark, Brazil and the UK attracted tens of thousands of music lovers and tourists.

“This year’s event is much more big and influential. We have more international bands here,” the organiser said when comparing it with last year’s. “We are going to make it last longer and the atmosphere of the whole town higher if we do it next year.”

It was a shame that I had to leave before the finale on the third night missing the performance by Malene from Denmark of one of her albums named Date With a Dream that evening.

But on reflection and the beach sand still in my hair I guess it’s not too much of a shame to realise that I’ve already had my own version of it—a most lively and vivid one.
