Bank clerk helps woman avoid phone scam

A bank clerk prevented a customer from losing her money after she realized she was being conned by crooks in Guangzhou, Guangdong province.

The woman surnamed Chen received a phone call last Thursday from someone who claimed her accounts were compromised. They offered her the option of quickly transferring her money over to a new account to safeguard her money.

The new account belonged to the crooks who pretended to be police and investigators.

After Chen went to the bank to transfer her money, she was nervous and the clerk realized what was going on.

The clerk showed Chen a brochure issued by police warning about such scams. Chen realized what was going on and called the police.
