A silent disco advertised on Facebook has led to Liverpool Street Station being overrun with more than 12,000 dancers.

The crowd started dancing at about 7pm on Friday night in a scene which mimicked a T-Mobile advert filmed at the station last month, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Police closed the station for about 90 minutes due to overcrowding fears, with some participants admitting that the concourse was so packed that there was no room to dance.

A City of London Police spokeswoman said: "We had to close the station because it was completely overcrowded. There were around 12,000 people here. The event was generally good humoured but we had to act because people would not leave."
