Fortunately, Beijing is now home to a variety of health food stores, where you can buy fresh ingredients to whip up light and tasty meals. There are also several good vegetarian restaurants in town, catering to weight watchers as well as devout Buddhists.

Lohao City

This is a specialty shop with several convenient locations selling a wide range of organic health foods and other natural products.

De Run Wu Grocery Store

This store sells organic fruits, vegetables and seasonings. Fresh vegetables arrive at the store every Monday and Friday. To place an order, email giyunliang@vip.163.com for a list of seasonal vegetables, and be sure to submit your request three days in advance.

Diandian Grocery

This shop, which originated in Hong Kong, sells a variety of tasty cooking ingredients, including raisins, dried figs, blueberries, apricots and walnut kernels.

This is a good spot to buy organic rice, honey, green tea, kidney beans, oats and mung beans.
