Angelina: Not so stay-at-home mom

Angelina Jolie [E!Online]

Less than a week after Angelina Jolie said she would take time off from work to focus on new son Pax Thien, the Oscar winner has signed on to star in an action flick that's set to go into production this spring.

Jolie has signed on to star in Wanted, a Universal picture, alongside heavyweight thesp Morgan Freeman and The Last King of Scotland's James McAvoy.

The movie is based on the ultraviolent graphic novel by Scottish writer Mark Millar and will mark the English-language debut of cult Russian director Timur Bekmambetov.

The story centers on a young man, played by McAvoy, who finds out in a double whammy that his father is not only an assassin but has been killed. He is drafted into the profession himself and becomes the charge of the Fox, played by Jolie, the leader of the international killers.

According to Variety, Jolie took the role after her Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life writer Dean Georgaris rewrote the script, tailoring it specifically for the actor.

And while Jolie will be cutting short her time at home with her ever-expanding brood, she will have a month or so of bonding time in the bag before taking off for the shoot.

The film goes into production in Prague in late April and moves back to the U.S., via Chicago, later on.

Last week, after arriving in Vietnam to pick up her newly adopted son Pax, Jolie told the Ho Chi Minh City Law newspaper that she would not be taking on any new projects in the coming months.

"I will stay at home to help Pax adjust to his new life," she said. "I have four children and caring for them is the most important thing for me at the moment."

Apparently the moment is passing.

Jolie has also recently signed on to star in Clint Eastwood's next opus, The Changeling, this fall. That film centers on a mother whose kidnapped son is returned to her, only for her suspicions to be raised that the boy who comes back is not actually her son.

In the meantime, Jolie, Pax and Maddox are expected to depart Vietnam Wednesday to return to the U.S. and reunite with papa Brad Pitt and daughters Shiloh and Zahara. Jolie has been in the Asian country since last Wednesday and was prohibited from leaving until receiving a visa and passport for Pax. She got the go-ahead for both this afternoon after visiting with the U.S. Embassy.

"The Vietnamese authorities had already cleared the adoption, and the U.S. Embassy approved the adoption on Tuesday," Laura Feragen, the spokeswoman of U.S. adoption agency Adoptions From the Heart. "They will pick up Pax's visa on Wednesday and they are free to go home."
