上周三，国际足联主席塞普·布拉特暗示，中国有可能加入到竞争2018年世界杯申办权的行列。不过，他同时表示，他希望能在2014年后继续延用世界杯在非洲、亚洲、欧洲、中北美和加勒比海地区、南美洲轮流举办的原则。如果这样，2018年世界杯举办地应该不是在亚洲。

But he said he wanted to extend the currentgeographical rotation systembeyond 2014. If FIFA stuck to its rotation policy for hosting the event, it would not be Asia's turn in 2018.

依据上下文，报道中的“geographical rotation system”指的是“各大洲轮流举办（世界杯的）制度”，也就是我们汉语中常说的“按地域轮流坐庄制度”。

“Rotation”在此指“轮作、轮换”，如：a rotation of duties（轮流值勤），其相应的动词形式是“rotate”，看例句：Presidency rotates among members of the commission.（主席由委员会的成员轮流担任。）
