In 1909, US author Edith Wharton wrote a letter after discovering there was another woman in her boyfriend's life.

1909年，美国作家伊迪丝.华顿发现男友出轨后，给他写了这样一封信。

"I have had a difficult year - but the pain within my pain, the last turn of the screw, has been the impossibility of knowing what you wanted of me, and what you felt for me...

De Profundis is a letter written by Irish poet and playwright Oscar Wilde during his imprisonment, to Alfred Douglas the man who betrayed him.

English writer and feminist Mary Wollstonecraft and her lover had a child together. This letter was written after the relationship went downhill, due to his cheating and constant travelling, and after Wollstonecraft attempted suicide.

Earnest Hemingway met Agnes von Kurowsky in Milan during World War I, after he was taken to a hospital where she was serving as a nurse. He wanted to marry her, and she refused, gently, as seen by this letter.
