The traffic system is based on public traffic services for fast and convenient delivery.

“Green” will be emphasized in the development of the Chengdu Tianfu New Area. In the district, construction fields will account of 40 percent of the total, while ecological programs will make up 60 percent of the land. The district will break the traditional radiation development mode. Instead of cultivating a city agglomeration of multiple centers, the new area features one downtown and six districts for harmonious integration of the city and natural environments.

“Integration of production centers and residential quarters” is a key concept in the programming of the new area. The area will be comprised of a number of such integrated city agglomerations, each of which is no more than 30 square kilometers apart. People will travel less than six kilometers between their offices and residences. This will reduce the city's traffic jams. Different city agglomerations are connected with the rail traffic system. The network is integrated into the downtown area while keeping independent.

In addition to the rail traffic system, the Chengdu Tianfu New Area plans to build an expressway network. There will be from the south to the north, the Yuanhua Road, Hongxing Road extension line, ground road under Chengdu-Zigong-Luzhou expressway overpass, and, from the east to the west, the third ring road, expressway ring road, and Shuanghua Road.

The expressway is free of traffic lights and connects with downtown areas. On the basis of rapid and convenient external traffic facilities, the city agglomerations rely on the public traffic system for internal transport. They have 20 percent more public traffic resources than the downtown areas.

The Chengdu Tianfu New Area will make intensive use of underground resources. It will construct a corridor for municipal infrastructures and a public channel to pave all the pipelines for supplies of water, electricity, gas and communications. The concept of “municipal infrastructure corridor” will become a reality for the first time in the Xinchuan Innovation Technology Park.
