The Chengdu Tianfu New Area as an industrial center

The Chengdu Tianfu New Area will foster two bases with over one trillion yuan in annual output values.

As an inland open gateway, the Chengdu Tianfu New Area is an important component to opening Chinese inland areas to Europe and other Asian regions. It will serve as a channel and platform for exchanges and cooperation between West China and other parts of the world in economy, technologies, information and culture.

The core is the high-tech industrial base and high-end manufacturing base. The former takes electronic information as the leading industry. It sets to expand and strengthen the high-tech industries of new energy equipment manufacturing, new materials, and biotechnologies.

The latter prioritizes automobile development and manufacturing, and boosts aerospace, engineering machinery, and energy saving and environment protection equipment. The two bases will have over one trillion yuan annual output values respectively.

The Chengdu Tianfu New Area will cultivate an industrial pattern of “one belt and two wings”. It will be home to eight industrial sectors with priority given to modern manufacturing, high-end service, new technologies and new materials.

Among them, the airport economic development zone has chosen new energy as the point of reference and gives priority to developing photovoltaic, wind power and nuclear power equipment.

The Shuangliu information industrial zone focuses on electronic information and technological development. It prioritizes developing integrated circuits and software services for the Internet of Things.

The Xinchuan innovation technology park is dominated with science and technology development. It develops information service, service outsourcing and headquarters offices.

The Chengdu-Meishan Strategic Emerging Industrial Zone is mainly engaged in the industries of new materials, biomedicines, energy saving, environment protection and scientific development.

The Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone is devoted to automobile research and development (R&D), manufacturing, aerospace equipment and engineering machinery.

The Dongshan Science and Technology Industrial Zone is directed by science and technology development, with priority given to innovation development of information services, pilot scale test incubations, and headquarter offices.

The Southern Modern Agricultural Industrial Zone concentrates on agricultural and sideline products deep processing, modern agricultural technological development, and biotechnologies.

The Shigao Economic Development Zone focuses on agricultural and sideline products deep processing, machinery and electronics products manufacturing.

The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role in the short and mid-term development of The Chengdu Tianfu New Area. In the long term, the industrial orientation will be shifted from manufacturing to R&D and service.
