The county also strives to foster a new energy equipment manufacturing industry for the development of solar energy, wind power and nuclear power.

Shuangliu county focuses on the emerging electronic information industry with the Internet of Things as the core.

Its aviation economy, valued at around 200 billion yuan, is boosted by the aviation hub service and aviation manufacturing and maintenance sectors.

After three years of vigorous development, it has strengthened the new energy equipment manufacturing industry into one with great development potentials and a bright prospect.

Shuangliu county has achieved three major developments in the industrial functional zone for new energy development.

Firstly, the Shuangliu county functional zone has received 6.5 billion yuan cumulative investment. The core development area has been expanded from two square kilometers in 2008 to the current 7.1 square kilometers.

It has gathered 35 projects with an investment of over 100 million yuan each, including Tianwei New Energy, Hanneng Photovoltaic, Zhonghan Power, Nuclear Power Research Institute, and Chengdu Jiadian. The total gross value of the agreement investments is 73.7 billion yuan.

The functional zone has also accommodated to 13 major new energy projects, with over 100 billion yuan annual sales revenues.

Secondly, Shuangliu county has successfully achieved development benefits, showing that new energy plays an increasingly apparent role in stimulating industrial development. The new energy industrial sales revenues increased significantly year on year, hitting 1.1 billion yuan in 2008, 5.3 billion yuan in 2009, and 13.8 billion yuan in 2010. It is expected to break 20 billion yuan at the end of 2011.

In 2010, the new energy industry accounted for 49.3 percent added values and 48.2 percent of sales revenues of the western airport economic and technological development zone, up from the 10 percent and 9 percent in 2008 respectively.

Thirdly, the functional zone has developed into China’s new energy industrial base with largest number of technological lines and development platforms, longest industrial chain, and greatest development potential.

The zone has been approved as a national new energy equipment high-tech industrialization base by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and a national new energy high-tech industrial base by the National Development and Reform Commission.

It ranked the first among Chinese new energy industrial parks in 2010. In 2009 and 2010, Shuangliu was listed first for the top 100 counties for new energy development in China.
