Dalian High-Tech Industrial Zone is one of the few special zones in the Peoples Republic of China that is sanctioned by the National Government in March 1991. The Zone, located in an area approximately 35.6 km 2, has more than 2,300 registered companies. Over 800 of these are international companies. The growing list of participating countries and areas includes the United States, Japan, South Korea, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other countries and regions. More than 30 of these are among the Global Fortune 500. During the past twelve years, the economy of Dalian High-tech Industrial Zone has been growing rapidly. In recent years, it has been enjoying an accelerated grown rate, particularly among companies engaged in software, information service, media and digital entertainment and integrated circuit centered at Dalian Software Park. This also extends to Qixianling Industrial Base along the South Lvshun Road, and is engaged in biological engineering, as well as advanced equip-manufacturing industry centered at DD Port which extends along East Liaohe Road and Huanghai Highway.
In pursuance of a target to build a top international high-tech industrial zone in accordance with its strategic plans for bringing Great Dalian into the 21st century, Dalian High-tech Zone is devoting its time to building two high-tech industrial belts: One will be an industrial belt for software development & information services, an IC industrial base focusing on Dalian Software Park and Qixianling Industrial Base situated along the South Lvshun Road. The second is a digital and DNA technology industrial belt focusing on DD Port located along East Liaohe Road and Huanghai Highway. Both industrial belts will provide a big and ideal development space for investments and thus allowing great achievements for global enterprises.
