Suicide prevention is responsibility of all

The HKJC Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention of the University of Hong Kong announced its latest report on suicide research and prevention in Hong Kong on Monday to mark the annual World Suicide Prevention Day. The report notes that Hong Kong's suicide rate in 2017, based on figures provided by the Coroner's Court, was 12.4 per 100,000 people, slightly lower than the year before (12.5 per 100,000). However, the suicide rate among full-time school students aged 15-24 had surged more than 70 percent over five years (2012-2016). Yip suggested the sharp rise of suicides among full-time school students could indicate that schools are losing their ability to prevent suicide among students.
