Chief Secretary for Administration Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor told business elites at a luncheon on Wednesday that the impact of last year's illegal "Occupy Central" campaign on Hong Kong's business confidence was minimal. She said this was due to effective police action at the time.

Nearly a year after the protests, Lam concluded she did not think people's confidence in the city had been damaged.

"Quite the contrary, some foreign friends have told me as a result of how we handled such a major social movement and how our excellent police force coped with the situation, it has given them more confidence in this city," she said.
