If you plan to revisit Macao soon, and you happen to be a foodie, there is a place you shouldn't miss - Broadway Macau, a new and exciting destination underthe banner of the renowned Galaxy Macau resort, with a first-to-Macao hawker-style street market.

Built with an investment of over HK$5 billion, Broadway Macau brings a new concept to Cotai, where the Galaxy Macau and Broadway Macau are both situated. The newestGalaxy Macau property opened in May. It is an entertainment and accommodation resort rooted in the acquisition of the former Grand Waldo Complex, followed by extensive renovation.

With an open-air street market inside the resort, The Broadway features over 40 local Macao food brands, plus imported Asian food brands available in the city for the first time. There are Michelin-star restaurants for sophisticated diners. Those who wish to experience the taste of authentic Macao would surely be impressed by the abundant cuisines and delicacies available.

Gillian Murphy, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Broadway Macau, said The Broadway is special not only because of its friendly and highly motivated staff but also because it offers the unique experience of a street filled with entertainers of all kinds performing in front of wide choice of genuine local restaurants and authentic food.

"Our street presents an incredibly wide range of regional Asian cuisines including our own Macanese variety and has already established itself as a must-see attraction for both tourists and locals." She said, "Especially those who are already enjoying Galaxy Macau and want try out something authentic and different."

Apart from the hawker-style street stalls, Broadway Macau also provides a fabulous selection of facilities for entertainment, leisure and adventure. The Broadway Hotel, at the riverside, features 320 rooms and suites, offering contemporary dcor and panoramic views of the Pearl River Delta. A small-scale gaming center is on the ground floor, where guests can try their luck, and enjoy the food at The Broadway just seconds away.

The 3,000-seat Broadway Theater, a premier live entertainment auditorium, will host shows, events, conventions and sports tournaments. On the bill already is Canto-pop singer Dave Wang, who will perform a live concert.

For those would like to do a bit shopping, there is an array of more than 20 retail brands at the resort. Galaxy Macau's new shopping destination, the Promenade, is also connected via a link bridge, where shoppers are a few steps away from shops offering luxury brands.

Broadway Macau embraces various shops selling distinctive local products and it aims at a different clientele. Murphy sees another significant different in the casual, friendly manner of our employees who provide up-close, personal and friendly service.

"We've hired the best staff who care for others and who are naturally friendly. They want the guests to feel like home. The philosophy for us is when you take care of your staff, respect them and make them feel important, they will take care of the guests in a same way or even better," she said.

The aim is to create a homelike atmosphere for guests to distinguish Broadway Macaufrom the multiple major chain hotels in Macau. With its moderate-price policy, the resort will reach out to a market comprised of travelers looking for a comfortable and economical place to stay.

Customers of Broadway Macau can enjoy smaller but cozy rooms, with many exciting amenities. Murphy considers the resort an ideal leisure stop for tourists, especially from Guangdong province, who often come to the city for one or two days.

"It's a day trip market as well as an overnight market. People come to Macao and see a few sites, such as the Senado Square and Ruins of St Paul's, and Broadway Macau will be one of them too," she said.

With just a small gaming center, the resources and manpower of Broadway Macau are allnot meant for the gambling crowd. The Broadway aims at a niche in the market, especially with the gaming industry there already facing many challenges. After two months operation the hotel has enjoyed nearly full occupancy. Customer comments on the facilities and service are highly favorable.

"After all, our pricing and service are our biggest advantages," said Murphy.
