Art Museum to close from Monday

Hong Kong Museum of Art, after nearly a quarter of a century in service, will be closed from next Monday for about three years for major renovation work meant to increase exhibition space and upgrade its facilities. Museum Director Eve Tam said that since the closure announcement at the end of June the museum has attracted more than 41,000 visitors in a month. This is a significant increase in attendance compared with the average monthly attendance this year of around 23,000. The highest daily attendance of 3,800 was recorded on July 29.

Increase of 182,000 registered voters

The Registration and Electoral Office said that 3.69 million registered electors were contained in the 2015 provisional register for geographical constituencies. This represents a net increase of 182,000 electors compared with last year. This is after taking into account 261,000 who are newly registered and removing the names of about 32,000 and 47,000 electors that have been put on the omissions list due to death or as a result of the inquiry process, respectively.
