Man denieswounding charge

A man who allegedly attacked the boyfriend of a female friend after being accused of attempting to rape the woman denied one count of wounding with intent in the District Court on Friday. The prosecution said the victim, a 57-year-old taxi driver, surnamed Chan, confronted the defendant, Ng Tit-hing, 60, about the alleged rape attempt. Ng beat Chan and slashed him with a knife. This left Chan with a 12cm chest wound. Chan's girlfriend, 41, will give evidence as a prosecution witness.

Participants in murder jailed

An 18-year-old girl was sentenced to seven years imprisonment at the High Court on Friday for her role in the murder of a 15-year-old boy at Tseung Kwan O pier in 2012. The court earlier heard that Au Yeung Chun-yee, who earlier pleaded guilty, asked her boyfriend to teach the victim, Tsang Ming-sze, a lesson because she suspected Tsang was spreading rumors about her "promiscuity". Her boyfriend and three others beat Tsang before tossing him to the sea with rocks tied to his toes. Three of Tsang's assailants received life imprisonment sentences on Thursday. Yung Kwun-kit, 19, who pleaded guilty and testified as a prosecution witness, was sentenced to nine years in prison on Friday.

Defense rejectsErwiana's claims

The defense counsel for the former employer of Indonesian domestic helper Erwiana Sulistyaningsih presented a different version of her alleged "bathroom abuse" in the High Court. Erwiana's earlier testified that she had been stripped, doused with cold water and forced to stand naked under an electric fan for nearly two hours in winter. But Law Wan-tung's defense counsel said she had helped Erwiana shower because the maid had been feeling weak. Law helped her take her clothes off, held the shower hose and turned the fan off when Erwiana complained of being cold. Erwiana denied Law's version.
