Temple renaissance
More than 1,000 indigenous inhabitants and visitors flock to the opening ceremony of a Tin Hau temple at High Island on Wednesday, the first working day of 2013, to enjoy traditional cuisine and to pray for good luck in the new year. The 470-year-old temple (in the background) raised its curtain to the public after restoration, featuring a small museum, new embossment and a newly gilded goddess. Photo provided to China Daily
