Sex exorcist jailed 6 years

A self-styled fung shui master who deceived the teen sister of his girlfriend into having sex with him was sentenced to six years in prison in the District Court on Thursday.

Yuen Yuk-kin, 43, was earlier convicted of seven counts of unlawful sex.

The court heard that Yuen started to have sex with the victim in 2004, when she was only 15, claiming that he was performing a fung shui ritual that could cure her illness.

When she expressed doubts later, he threatened to harm her family through fung shui.

Judge Frankie Yiu called Yuen's action despicable, saying he imposed a six-year-long control on the girl's life through fear.

Bail denied for knife-wielder

A young man who was shot several times by police while wielding a knife during a suicide bid was denied bail in the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Chan Chun-kit, 20, is facing one count, for allegedly cutting a police officer on the hand.

Two police officers opened fire when the man wielded a chopper and threatened to kill himself in a violent outburst at a home in Lok Fu Estate on Sept 6.

No plea was taken. The case was adjourned to Oct 28.

Defense counsel applied for bail. Acting principal magistrate Rickie Chan Kam-cheong said though psychiatric reports found the man was not mentally ill, he posed a threat to society because he had poor impulse control and his drug abuse history may affect his mental state.

Constipation study on kids

A study by the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) found 12.2 percent of school-age children suffered from constipation.

The Division of Paediatric Surgery and Paediatric Urology of the Department of Surgery of CUHK polled more than 2,300 Primary 1 to Primary 6 children.

The study also identified a set of socio-environmental factors associated with constipation in children.

It was found that a child has higher risks of constipation if the child doesn't live with his parents, if the child doesn't have enough sleep, if the child refuses to go to the toilet in school despite the urge to have bowel movements, if parents more often than not are absent from dinners and if the child has too much homework to do after school.
