Support for R&D increases

In his budget for 2011/2012, Financial Secretary John Tsang announced four measures to boost research and development in Hong Kong, including up to HK$2 million a year for each of the city's 12 Partner Key Laboratories. The intention was to support operations and enhance research capabilities. At the same time there was to be a comprehensive review of the Innovation and Technology Fund. That was to improve assessment criteria and application procedures and at the same time to encourage enterprises and research and development institutions to conduct more research.
