In an industry where industrial relations are often a challenge, Cathay Pacific Thursday reached an agreement with its Flight Attendants Union (FAU) over arrangements for cabin crew to swap flights with colleagues. Cathay said it had cancelled with immediate effect a recently announced guideline after a two-day discussion with the FAU.
Cathay announced changes to swapping guidelines on March 15 to address misuse of the swapping system, but has acted swiftly in response to concerns expressed by the crew community. Cathay said the company recognizes the FAU's role in representing its membership in discussions and consultations with the company on matters of mutual interest.
The two sides also agreed that meetings between the company and the union should take place on a monthly basis rather than on the current bi-monthly schedule.
