HK leads nation in competitiveness

HONG KONG: Hong Kong has been named the most competitive city in the country by the China Institute of City Competitiveness and Chinese Real Estate Association in a study published yesterday in the 2009-based "Yearbook of China's Urban Real Estate".
The study examined key factors such as urban real estate development, growth index, greenness and soft environment and declared Hong Kong the best in the "Chinese Cities' 2009 Comprehensive Property Competitiveness Ranking", among the 300 cities in the cross-China study. Shanghai and Beijing ranked second and third, while Taipei ranked seventh in the list.
Gui Qiangfang, president of the China Institute of City Competitiveness, said Hong Kong's highly market-oriented property sector is mature, while enjoying advanced regulations and international standards.
Hong Kong's property sector is regarded as being the firmest in prices and the most competitive of all the hundred surveyed Chinese cities.
