A cyclist rides in a Taipei street yesterday under poor visibility as the city holds its breath in the wrath of a dust storm whipped up by Typhoon Lupit. The typhoon, downgraded to a medium-strength one Tuesday, has veered away from Taiwan, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said yesterday. However, it was still expected to dump a lot of rain in the northern and eastern parts of Taiwan beginning last night, the CWB added. As of yesterday morning, the storm was moving at 15 kilometers per hour toward the northern region of the Philippines' Luzon Island, said CWB forecaster Tang Shun-jan.
