Pocket change?
The owner of a shop selling collectables in Taipei holds up a commemorative coin, issued by the People's Bank of China in Beijing to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China, for the press to photograph yesterday. Weighing one kilograms, the silver coin is the largest of a limited edition minted for the occassion. Some market watchers were worried the mainland-issued coins would be hard to sell for obvious reasons, but sellers were pleasantly surprised they turned out to be quite popular.
