Positions scarce for S6 enrollment
Only 1,507 Secondary Six (S6) placements remain in public sector schools for graduating Secondary Five students as the S6 Admission Procedure continues today. All HKCEE participants with results satisfying the minimum A-Level entry requirements can apply to different schools for S6 places in enrolment phase that will be held 9 am to 4:30 pm today. Besides S6 school placements, students have the option to choose from a number of sub-degree programs based on their interests.
Disciplined services unions to discuss pay grievances
The Government Disciplined Services General Union has called a meeting September 2 to discuss issues concerning salaries and working conditions. About 450 disciplined staff from five forces are expected to attend the meeting. The workers come from the Customs and Excise Department, the Immigration Department, the Fire Services Department, Hong Kong Correctional Services and the Government Flying Service. Meanwhile, the Ambulancemen's Union will meet the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service in September or October.
New Austin station to bring changes to MTRC services
The MTRC is adding a new station at Austin to its ever-expanding network. August 16 will mark the opening of the station along the Kowloon Southern Link.
The new station is part of the West Rail Line extension to link the Northwest New Territories to central Kowloon with stops at Austin and East Tsim Sha Tsui.
Hung Hom Station will become the new terminus for both the West Rail Line and the East Rail Line.
