Community service for porn purveyor

A Chinese University graduate who uploaded a video to the Internet, showing people having sexual intercourse, has been ordered to perform 150 hours of community service as punishment. Wong Kin-ming, 22, pleaded guilty in Eastern Court to publishing obscene material. The court heard that Wong downloaded four pornographic movie clips from the Internet. He uploaded them to another file-sharing site in December last year.

Infant recovering after morphine overdose

An infant, weighing less than 3 kilograms, had a close brush with death as a result of a medical error. The baby was prescribed intravenous morphine and was administered 2.5 mg (or 0.86 mg/kg of body weight) to sedate him, the Hospital Authority disclosed Friday.

The correct dosage should have been 0.1 mg/kg of dose/bodyweight. The error was noticed 15 minutes after the drug had been administered. The baby appeared sleepy. His breathing was shallow and mild respiratory acidosis observed. The baby was subsequently transferred to another department for close monitoring and further management.
