Internship program for graduates set to roll
Admission to the Internship Programme for eligible university graduates begins tomorrow. The program is providing about 4,000 places for university graduates to work as interns and receive training for six to 12 months in local or mainland enterprises/organisations. Up to 1,000 places are earmarked for mainland internships.
Needy to get bonus in HK$1.8 billion program
A one-off additional payment will be made to recipients of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA), Disability Allowance (DA) and Old Age Allowance (OAA) on August 5. It was part of a new package of relief measures to help the disadvantaged, as announced by the Financial Secretary earlier. The Legislative Council subsequently approved the allocation of HK$1.8 billion for implementing the measures.
Toddlers to benefit from free vaccination program
The government will offer free pneumococcal vaccination to children aged two or under beginning September 1. Controller for the Centre for Health Protection Thomas Tsang said the vaccination is an effective means of preventing pneumococcal infection, which could cause mild illnesses such as sinus or middle ear infections, as well as severe diseases, including infections of the lung, membranes covering the brain and potentially lethal blood impurities.
