Nearly 70 per cent of workers in Hong Kong are worried that they may lose their jobs.

The Hong Kong Council of Social Service last month surveyed 515 people (62 percent of the total were currently working) and found that 68.9 percent are worried about the financial crisis, while about the same number worried their personal wealth would be eroded. Among those who were still at work, 59 percent foresaw heavier work pressure arising from the fear of redundancy and possible pay cuts.

However, most respondents said they believed health and family more important than money. The survey also found that those who put family ahead of money were better equipped to handle adverse situations.
