Broadcasting Authority OKs nicotine-therapy ads

The Broadcasting Authority has approved the Codes of Practice Committee's recommendations to revise the Generic Code of Practice on Television Programme Standards, the Generic Code of Practice on Television Advertising Standards, and the Radio Code of Practice on Advertising Standards.

The revisions will allow advertising of certain nicotine-replacement therapy products at specific hours.

HK-Zhuhai-Macao bridge prelim design set for April

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Advance Work Co-ordination Group Project Office has started inviting tenders for the main bridge's preliminary design and site investigation.

The main bridge will be a 29.6 km dual three-lane carriageway with a 6.7 km immersed tunnel. It runs from the artificial island off Gongbei in Zhuhai to the eastern artificial island for the tunnel section just west of the Hong Kong boundary.

AIDS in HK on the decline, but fight far from over

A series of activities has been launched on the 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day to raise public awareness of the prevention of HIV/AIDS - and to promote safe sex.

Speaking at the ceremony to launch World AIDS Day 2008 yesterday, Secretary for Food & Health York Chow said Hong Kong had recorded the lowest number of HIV cases in more than two decades, since the first case was reported in 1984.

Tickets for Shenzhou-7 show available this morning

About 21,000 free tickets to the variety show featuring the Shenzhou-7 space crew will be distributed at 21 Home Affairs Department Public Enquiry Service centers and other distribution locations in all 18 districts starting at 9 am today.

They will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and each person can get two tickets. The crew will arrive in Hong Kong Friday.
