Retail fuel-price comparison in pipeline
The Consumer Council will compare oil companies' retail fuel prices and discounts weekly later this year and release the data to help consumers make their choices, Secretary for the Environment Edward Yau said.
Speaking on a radio talk show yesterday morning, Yau said the government also plans to disclose the import prices of fuel to help public understand the difference between retail and import prices.
Frederick Ma to take up HKU post
An advisory committee has agreed to a request from Frederick Ma, former secretary for commerce & economic development and former secretary for financial services & the treasury, to take up a post as honorary professor at the University of Hong Kong (HKU).
The Advisory Committee on Post-Office Employment for Former Chief Executives & Politically Appointed Officials has no objection.
Director gets jail term for wage offences
A director of High Merit Limited, trading as New Fuk Wan Seafood Hotpot Restaurant, was sentenced yesterday at Kowloon City Magistrates' Court to two months in jail, suspended for two years, for wage offences.
It is the fourth case this year that an employer or responsible person of a limited company has been handed a jail sentence for committing wage offences.
House crow tests
positive for H5N1
A dead house crow found in Sham Shui Po has been confirmed H5N1-positive, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said yesterday.
The bird was found and collected at the refuse collection chamber in Sham Shui Po Park last Wednesday, the AFCD said, without giving further details.
