to be tabled

A bill providing the legal framework for implementing the Budget proposal of injecting HK$6,000 into eligible Mandatory Provident Fund accounts will be tabled to lawmakers June 18, the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau said yesterday.

Tseung Kwan O Hospital loses medical reports

Tseung Kwan O Hospital yesterday made a public apology for the loss of 300 patients' medical examination reports, which contained their name, gender, age, birth date, identity card number and analysis results.

The data was found missing last Thursday. Preliminary investigations confirmed that some doctors took the reports but failed to return them to the appropriate department after use. The documents were packed and sent to landfills by a cleaner who assumed they were trash.

The hospital stressed that the mishap did not affect any medical treatment and the chance of data leakage is low. The incident has been reported to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

The man came down with fever and loss of consciousness on June 1 and was admitted to United Christian Hospital on June 3. He is in critical condition.

A wound on his left lower leg tested positive for vibrio ulnificus, a bacteria which can cause the disease.

Necrotizing fasciitis is a serious bacterial infection of the soft tissue. It can destroy tissue and can cause death within 12 to 24 hours after infection.
