Sports helped pave the way for Sino-ROK ties

In 1980s, diplomats in Beijing and Seoul were cautiously searching for a way to improve relations. They turned to sports: three international games in which they were either hosts or guests.

ROK envoy praises China's role on DPRK issue

A top envoy from the Republic of Korea (ROK) urged the resumption of the six-party talks as soon as possible on Thursday, and praised China's constructive role on the issue.

Ambassador proud of his role in Sino-ROK ties

When former US president Richard Nixon took his landmark visit to China in 1972, a sophomore student of in Seoul cannily realized that "there would be substantial change in the situation of northeast Asia". The young man, named Shin Jung-seung, later becomes Republic of Korea's ambassador to China.
