Little Mermaid's China debut is Danish commitment in China

Denmark's world-renowned statue, the "Little Mermaid," will be standing in waters at the Danish Pavilion during the Shanghai World Expo next year.

"The cooperation between Denmark and China is both deep and broad."
"It is 'deep' in the sense that it goes back a long time. Denmark was among the very first western countries to recognize the People's Republic of China in 1950."
"It is also 'broad' in the sense that it covers in many areas, from the economic and commercial cooperation to education, research and culture field."
"For Denmark, China is a key partner, and we want to continue to broaden and deepen our cooperation. We would like to work very constructively to achieve this aim."
--MR. Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen, the Danish Ambassador to China
