Khloe Kardashian owes back taxes

Khloe Kardashian owes almost $20,000 in back taxes, it has been claimed.

According to a new tax lien filed last Friday (30.07.10) - which has been obtained by gossip website TMZ - the reality TV star owes $18,490.74 to the State of California.

The sum dates back to 2007 when the fly-on-the-wall show 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' - in which Khloe appears with her family, including sisters Kourtney and Kim and their mother Kris Jenner - first aired.

The 26-year-old socialite's representative is yet to comment on the claims.

Khloe - who is married to Los Angeles Lakers basketball player Lamar Odom - is the latest in a long line of celebrities to fall foul of the US tax system.

Last week, Chris Tucker was reported to owe a staggering $11.5 million in unpaid taxes to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) after failing to pay in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

In 2007, Jennifer Lopez's husband Marc Anthony was ordered to pay $2.5 million in back taxes, after he failed to file returns from 2000 to 2004 - a period when he is believed to have earned $15.5 million.

Similarly, 'National Treasure' actor Nicolas Cage was forced to sell off many of his assets - including properties, yachts and a 67-million-year-old dinosaur skull worth $276,000 - after being hit with a $6.3 million tax bill last year.
