Farrah Fawcett's friends and family have dedicated a cancer-research foundation in her name.
To mark the first anniversary of the 'Charlie's Angels' star's death on Friday (25.06.10), her long-term partner Ryan O'Neal, son Redmond O'Neal, Ryan's daughter Tatum O'Neal and best friend Alana Stewart gathered at the new offices of the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, which aims to fund alternative treatments and improve the quality of life for those suffering from the disease.
Alana says Farrah - who detailed her three-year battle against anal cancer in 2009 documentary 'Farrah's Story' - started the foundation during her illness and Alana wanted to continue her good work.
She said: "If I can help carry on Farrah's mission for the foundation, it's an honour for me. I feel almost like she's a guardian angel watching over me, and I feel like she's smiling down on us and very happy that she died for a cause."
"She felt that she could help a lot of people and she could give a lot of people inspiration, courage and hope. That's why she did the documentary and that's why she started the foundation."
Ryan also spoke about his desire to keep Farrah's legacy alive.
He said: "Farrah was extremely loved around the world. We will try to keep that feeling in play."
The actor has previously revealed how he can still hear Farrah's voice when he thinks of his late partner.
He said: "I hear her voice, I see her silhouette. I miss her cooking. I haven't had a good meal since she left me. It's harder than I thought. I miss her. We all miss her."
