Jane Lynch is "delighted" to be a stepmother.
The 'Glee' actress - who married Dr. Lara Embry last week - admits she never expected to have children and so to take on the care of her new wife's eight-year-old daughter Haden made their union even better.
She said: "I'm almost 50, and I thought that possibility was behind me, so this is a real delight."
Despite Jane's success in 'Glee' - in which she plays cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester - Lara admits she had no idea how big the US drama series was.
She admitted to the New York Times newspaper: "I knew of her work, but not extensively. I was basically ignorant of it."
However, Haden revels in Jane's success and loves to help her prepare for the show, taking a particular interest in the infamous 'Vogue' routine the actress performed on the programme's Madonna episode.
Lara explained: "She was showing it to Haden, and they would practice it together and laugh and sing - and they still do that. They break out in song and dance spontaneously."
Both admitted despite their different professions - Lara is a clinical psychologist and Jane plays cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester in the hit show - they were immediately attracted towards each other and even have a photograph of the first moment they met.
Lara explained: "I said, 'I want my picture taken with her'. I thought she was cute."
The couple first started dating in May 2009.
