Actress Kristen Stewart, facing another media onslaught with the release later this month of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse", says life on the red carpet almost feels like being raped.

"What you don't see are the cameras shoved in my face and the bizarre intrusive questions being asked, or the people falling over themselves, screaming and taunting to get a reaction," Stewart, 20, told the July issue of Britain's Elle magazine.

"The photos are so ... I feel like I'm looking at someone being raped.

"A lot of the time I can't handle it," she said. "I never expected that this would be my life."

Stewart, and her screen partner Robert Pattinson, became international teen idols after playing shy Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen in the first "Twilight" movie in 2008.

"Eclipse", the third film in the best-selling book and movie franchise, will be released in the United States and much of Europe on June 30.

Stewart also told Elle it is annoying when she is continually asked by reporters if she and Pattinson, 24, are dating. The pair have been coy for more than a year in responding to romantic questions.

"Why would I want anything that's private to become entertainment for other people?...People say that if I just tell them everything I'll be left alone, but God, you think if I tell people they'll leave me alone? They pick up every little scrap, and that's much worse."
