Kate Moss swamped by sewage

Kate Moss's home has flooded with sewage, causing £100,000 worth of damage.

The supermodel - who recently repainted some walls in her north London property with Farrow and Ball paint at great expense - was devastated to discover her home 18 inches deep in putrid water over the weekend after a pump in her basement burst, causing at least £100,000 worth of damage.

Her kitchen, sitting room and outside decking have all been ruined, as well as much of her furniture and a number of items of clothing.

A source said: "Trouble started following heavy rains at the beginning of May and culminated in her basement flooding and the pump system clogging up. Kate is absolutely devastated. Her house is a complete disaster zone, with mud, gunge and sewage everywhere."

Kate, 36, is now thought to be staying with friends, but she may move to the Dorchester Hotel in Mayfair if repairs at her property cannot be completed soon.

This is not the first piece of bad luck to have hit the supermodel's home.

Last week, her house was burgled while she was asleep in the property with boyfriend Jamie Hince and daughter Lila Grace.

Raiders took a Banksy painting worth £80,000, as well as two other artworks.

A spokesperson said: "They got in by climbing over the back fence but fled after disturbing someone who woke up. There is a possibility that they had inside knowledge of the house's layout."
