John Cleese to tour UK

John Cleese is bringing his 'Alimony Tour' to the UK.

The comedy legend and 'Monty Python' star will entertain audiences up and down Britain next year with his unique comedic perspective.

He will appear in Cambridge on May 3, before visiting Birmingham, Salford, Liverpool and Oxford. The tour finishes in Bristol, June 21.

Speaking about the tour, Cleese said: "It is an evening of well honed anecdotes, psychoanalytical tit-bits, details of recent surgical procedures and unprovoked attacks on former colleagues, especially Michael Palin!"

The 'Fawlty Towers' funnyman is currently touring Europe and while it may not be what he wants to do, he has previously joked he needed to do it to fund his divorce settlement.

He said: "It's very interesting. What I've discovered is that British comedy goes very well in Northern Protestant Europe. I'm doing 25 shows in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

"I mean people are surprised when I say the figures. When Alyce Faye and I split up she got $13 million and I got to keep $8 million. But over the next seven years I have to pay her $1 million a year. She needs it!"

Well, every penny counts - especially when there's money like that to pay out.

Tickets for the UK shows go on sale today (21.05.10).
